We made playdough for our Metamorphic Rock experiment.
We looked at how one colour can be changed by heat (hot water) and pressure (our hands) to change the 'rock' from one thing to another.
It was a lot of fun! We got very dirty! Have a look at what we did

Year 6 Gospel Term 3
Check out our gospel for the term...
In this Gospel, Jesus asks us
to go after treasures. Jesus is telling us to go after the treasure he has
given us with everything we can so that we bring his name glory. Jesus is
helping to illustrate the great value of heaven. We have learnt a song which
talks about following Jesus and not turning back from living a life with him.
The bible says “For where your treasure is- there your heart will be”- we want
our treasure to be found in Jesus and there is no turning back for us. This is
where our hearts will also be.

Andrea's Visit
Andrea knows a lot about rocks and has an amazing collection from around the world. She came in to speak with us and show us some of her gems. We learnt about crystal and diamond quality as well as uses of rocks.
Rock Trip
We were able to go to the Oamaru Rock Club where we spent a morning doing hands on activities to find out more about rocks. They had a huge collection and it was great to be able to use our knowledge and practice what we had learnt.
Sedimentary Rock
We have learnt that Sedimentary rock means a rock that forms layers. These layers are made from a range of minerals which are compacted and cemented together to form the Sedimentary rock. We used a range of minerals to do the same process.
Ballet
We were fortunate enough to go watch the Royal Ballet at the Opera House along with other schools from Oamaru. We watched a range of styles of ballet and contemporary dancing which was incredible. The men were so strong and women-so graceful and flexible!
Police Visit
We had Carry from the police come and talk to us about being safe on the roads around Oamaru. Lots of us bike and scooter to school! We learnt a lot about safety and road rules to keep ourselves safe!
